It’s important to care is one of our values, and our Employee Benefits Trust makes sure really can care. On top of the business benefits, which all good businesses should offer, our Trust is there for every individual when they need some help and care.
Our Employee Benefit Trust (EBT) offers financial awards each academic year to colleagues’ children/dependants who are studying or about to study at undergraduate degree or foundation degree level at a UK university.
Offering free access to a GP, counsellors and financial support for colleagues and their families, our portal has been popular with colleagues. It also offers discounts for over 700 services.
We also have an in-house crisis support line, where colleagues can talk to a member of the WJFG team who will help them find the right support quickly.
In 2023 we launched our WJFG Commitment to Care, setting out how we would like all of our colleagues to look out for each other, no matter who they are or where they work…
We understand that balancing work and home life can be challenging. That’s why we’re committed to providing a variety of initiatives designed to support our colleagues’ well-being—both inside and outside the workplace, we offer:
Employee Assistance Programme: A comprehensive support system covering mental well-being, physical fitness, and practical guidance to navigate life’s challenges.
Healthy Living Resources: Nutritious food options, recipes, and expert advice to make balanced eating easier and more enjoyable.
Fitness and Movement Initiatives: From group workouts and virtual fitness challenges to ergonomic workspaces that encourage movement throughout the day.
Mental Health Support: Confidential counselling services, mindfulness sessions, and resilience-building workshops to empower well-being.
Our annual WJFG Superstar awards take place in Corby in November, and celebrate our colleagues who are living our values. We host a really special event and say thank you to them for going above and beyond. In addition to this, our internal online platform offers colleagues a space to celebrate and acknowledge each other for our core values through their actions and behaviours.
Our businesses are all unique, operating in different areas of the food industry and in different areas of the UK, but we are one family and try regularly to bring colleagues together to meet each other and feel part of the Group. Historically we have held charity challenges and raised thousands of pounds for charity by conquering hills and mountains together, hosted our Bake Off Challenge and also our Rounders & Archery Tournament.
Bringing colleagues together to participate in a variety of activities from archery, rounders, 5-a-side football and its a knockout.
Colleagues conquering Snowden whilst raising funds to support a charity close to their hearts.
This year’s Bake Off Challenge saw colleagues working in teams to create a 3 tiered, uniquely flavoured, hand-crafted cake!
Our values maybe ask a lot of us in order for our Group to be successful, but it isn’t a one-way street. We are a family business with super-supportive Group of shareholders. Across generations, they have shown a proven enthusiasm for doing the right thing; being appreciative of the work our colleagues do, and reinvesting back into our businesses.
Our values and culture help us outside of work too – we believe a community should be a better place for having one of our businesses in it and each of our businesses works really hard to volunteer in their community.
All colleagues are given a paid day each year to use for volunteering – and each year we try to target our businesses to improve uptake of volunteering.
We also support colleagues through their own charity work with donations from our WJFG Community Giving Team.
We take recruitment very seriously as we recognise that talent and commitment of our colleagues plays a really large part in our success as a business.
We choose colleagues because they’re a good fit for our business and passionately share our values, and sometimes more importance is placed on these qualities than experience.
When selecting colleagues we also look for potential as we are especially keen on developing individuals and helping them achieve their goals and be the best they can be. We have numerous programmes in place, whether in house or external with likes of Sheffield Hallam University, Teesside University & Manchester University
