From surplus bread to delicious stuffing
Our grads have developed two delicious stuffings for colleagues from surplus bread - Christmas Cranberry and Classic Sage and Onion - reducing food waste and producing great food.
The stuffings, called ‘Get Stuffed’, are on sale internally to colleagues across the Group in MyFresh, Abel & Cole and bakery Jacksons this week, and the proceeds will go to the FareShare charity.
Our Talent Development Manager Angela runs the grad programme and set the team the challenge of making a great new product from surplus food. She said: “Our grads enjoy a really varied two years with our businesses learning lots about the food industry. We set them various challenges during their time on the programme and this time they’ve really excelled themselves. They’ve taken surplus bread from our bakery Jacksons and turned it into a really tasty festive product, which they’ve branded appropriately. They’re also raising money for a really great charity too.”
Technical Graduate Hannah Newton said: “This has been a really fun project to get involved with and we have learned such a lot, especially about business start-ups and the food production process. It’s also been great to be actively involved in a project that looks at reducing waste which is such an important issue, and also to raise cash for FareShare.”
